This passport cover fits a standard 3-1/2” x 5” passport. The passport’s front cover slides into the leather cover’s front pocket for retention. The passport’s back page, which contains the bar code, is not tucked in and remains accessible for scanning. There are two card slots inside the leather cover’s back for card storage. Banknotes, receipts or other paperwork can be stored in the cover’s full-size rear pocket.
It is made from Olive Green Pueblo leather from the world-renowned Badalassi Carlo tannery in Tuscany, Italy. See below for a description of this leather.
It is fully hand stitched with 0.6 mm Ritza 25 Tiger thread made by Julius Koch in Germany. This is a braided polyester thread, perfect for a passport cover as it is very strong and resistant to sunlight and aging. It also has very good abrasion resistance.
The edges have been hand finished with progressively finer grades of sandpaper, applications of burnishing compound and final buffing with waxes and a canvas cloth. This finish is very durable and is easily maintained.
Approximate size when closed is 3-7/8” wide x 5-3/8” high and when opened 7-3/4” wide x 5-3/8” high. The expired passport, cash and blank cards shown in the pictures are not included!
About this leather:
Badalassi Carlo Pueblo is a distinguished, full-grain cowhide leather, vegetable tanned in Tuscany according to time-honored tradition. Its surface is hand buffed to reveal a distinctive, softly weathered character: a fine, rustic grain animated by delicate circular markings and nuanced tonal variation. No two hides are alike; each bears the quiet individuality of its origin and the skilled hands that brought it to life.
At first touch, Pueblo is matte and subtly velvety, with a tactile depth that invites the hand. With use, its character unfolds. Contact gradually smoothens and burnishes the surface, deepening the color and awakening a warm, satin-like glow. Over time it darkens, particularly around edges and high-contact areas, showing greater depth and color variation, and blending many minor scratches into the overall stunning patina.
