One-Slot Card Holder - Metta Catharina Culatta

This minimalist card holder is sized to hold up to four or five cards – great for those occasions when you won’t be needing your regular full-size wallet or you have limited pocket or purse space.

It is made with Natural-colored Metta Catharina Culatta leather from the Shell Cordovan Toscana Italia in Tuscany, Italy.  See below for a description of this leather.

It is fully hand stitched with Dunmore Bonded Nylon 66, Size 138.  This is a twisted nylon thread, perfect for a card holder as it is very strong and has excellent abrasion resistance.

The edges have been hand stained, and hand finished with progressively finer grades of sandpaper, applications of burnishing compound and final buffing with waxes and a canvas cloth.  This finish is very durable and is easily maintained.

Approximate size is 2-9/16” wide x 3-11/16” high.

About this leather:

Metta Catharina Culatta is a rare, vegetable-tanned, horse-rump leather produced in Tuscany as a tribute to the historic Russian leather recovered from the eighteenth-century wreck of the Metta Catharina.  Recreated from centuries-old tanning methods, it is enriched with carefully selected tannins, animal fats, natural oils and aromatic wood tar, giving the leather remarkable density, resilience and a distinctive smoky character.

Its deeply impressed crosshatched grain reveals subtle pull-up and shifting tonal variations as the leather bends and moves.  With time and handling, the surface becomes increasingly lustrous while its color deepens into a rich, singular patina evocative of the celebrated leather that inspired its creation.
